Does Citi Bike have a time limit?

If you plan to ride with children under 16 years old, are looking for a specific type of bicycle, or are interested in a guided tour, traditional bike rental would be your best bet. You will typically need to decide in advance how long you want to keep the bike out, and when you’re finished, you will usually be required to return the bike to its original location.

There are a lot of bike rental places in NYC, but only a couple that we’d recommend since others may not be licensed or may have questionable operations. Here are the options:

1. Blazing Saddles

This is another trusted bike rental company with two locations in Manhattan, offering specialty bikes and guided tours.

Prices: Starting at $15 for one hour
Options: Bikes for men, women and children; comfort, hybrid and tandem bikes; baby seats, baby trailers and tagalong attachments available
Rental Length: Rent for 1 hour or all day
Hours: Daily 9 AM to 7 PM
Includes: Helmet, lock, map, rear storage rack, and bungee cord

2. Unlimited Biking

Unlimited Biking has five locations in NYC and you can pick up and drop off at any one of their store locations with their hourly and day pass rentals. Partnered with Cannondale, they offer a range of adults and kids bikes and also offer guided bike tours. Hourly rentals start at $15, day passes start at $40, and they offer “bike sharing” for long-term memberships.

Rental Length: Hourly, daily, monthly or annually
Hours: April 1-Oct. 31: 8AM to 7PM | Nov.1-March 31: 9AM-5PM

3. Other Options

There are other companies in the NYC area that advertise bike rental, but many are not licensed and may have questionable business practices. If you do decide to consider one of these other options, you should vet them on your own before giving them your credit card info.
